For the Baofeng UV-5R a factory reset can be performed by following the steps below:

1. Hold down the PTT, Moni, and VFO buttons.
2. While holding those down, turn on the radio.
3. Once you turn it on, you’ll see the word ‘FACTORY’ on the display. 
4. The radio will then reset, and now the radio is unlocked.
