If you need to confirm which firmware version your Baofeng UV-5R, AR-152, or UV9R is running, you can use the steps below to find out.  This process also works with the GMRS only variant of the UV-5R. 

1. Power the radio off.
2. Hold down the #3 button.
3. While holding down the #3 button, power the radio on. 
4. As the radio powers on you will see the firmware version briefly flash on the display.
