In order to MARS Mod certain radios, altering the circuit board is required.  Other radios require the modification to be performed through the programming software. 

For the Yaesu FT-65, modifications to the circuit board, or via the firmware are not required.  The radio can be unlocked with the press of a few buttons.    

Below are the steps to unlocking the FT-65:

1. Hold down the PTT and Moni button. 
2. While holding down those buttons, turn the radio on. 
3. Once you turn it on, the screen will be blank.  Once you release the PTT and Moni buttons, the advanced menu will be displayed. 
4. Enter the following code: 62406665.
5. After entering the code, the FT-65 will reboot and the mod is complete.
